Some of the groups supporting The MOTHERS Act include psychopharmaceutical industry-funded front groups while others are simply inappropriate for a bill that will result in more pregnant women on drugs and deny the right of informed consent to mothers.
Suicide Prevention Action Network USA (Oh, the irony considering antidepressants cause suicide)
American Psychiatric Association (Pharma-funded)
Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (Pharma-funded)
Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (Pharma-funded)
Family Mental Health Foundation (Pharma-funded)
March of Dimes (Pharma-funded)
Mental Health America (Pharma-funded)
National Alliance on Mental Illness (Pharma-funded)
Postpartum Support International (Members or advisors working for Pharmaceutical Companies or receiving money awards from them, numerous conflicts of interest including the likelihood of receiving millions in grants to enforce screening if MOTHERS Act passes; enforcers reportedly ready and waiting in dozens of states)
American College of Nurse Midwives (Pharma-funded)
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (Pharma-funded)
American Psychological Association (Conflict of interest, dissent in the ranks from their own members on sponsorship of this bill)
Guttmacher (Pro-choice group - ironic considering spontaneous abortions & stillbirths caused by pregnancy exposure and the lack of informed consent in this bill)
Planned Parenthood Federation of America
NARAL, Pro-Choice America
National Association of Social Workers (I find it shocking that they want to admit this one)
Melanie Blocker Stokes Foundation
Children’s Defense Fund
Kristin Brooks Hope Center
National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare
National Partnership for Women & Families
National Women’s Law Center
OWL- The Voice of Midlife and Older Women
Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs *Note - if there is an error on this page of a misattribution of pharmaceutical conflicts of interest, please contact me and I will remove it. This is to the best of my recollection based on hours of research over the past year but there could be a couple on here that are not pharma-funded or that are which I left off. I apologize in advance if this is the case. I will make every attempt to verify these categories soon.)
