Something better than a killer drug...
Can
you say... A helper? A massage? Aromatherapy? Yummy Food?
To learn more about how women can be truly helped and supported
please look into the resources from

(All the meds which are petrochemical based contribute to this
too, is
my guess. But the plastics alone!!!!!)
Ysha Oakes is a member of our yahoo group (http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/uniteforlife/)
and is available to assist mothers by giving information on time-tested
and effective methods of healing that are both enjoyable and good for
you.
Here are some excerpts from our discussions on how to help women prevent
and treat PPD safely.
"I heard the great teacher
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi say "The last great
battle is between the forces of natural medicine, and the forces of the
drug companies." !!! That was over 10 years ago.
...No of course pregnancy is not an illness, but becomes big contributor
to illnesses mental and physical when we break our own God given innate
psychophysiological intelligence and albeit unknowingly, make the kind
of choices that create imbalance. How much more unfortunate it is, as
the creator herself of SSRI med chemistry said they were
created. Those drugs which both cover up root cause and make it worse at
same time have to be dealt with as such an invasive issue that it is
difficult to get an ear around root solutions to restoring balance!
AMAZING results with the simple tools and protocols we have been given
as Ayurvedic doulas for postpartum care. Check out this link and feel
free to add it to your files and links if you are willing to honor the
word of many including nurses, doulas, midwives, docs, from many parts
of the world and ancient cultures around the world that don't have
problems postpartum. They all do similar things, which our culture for
the most part doesn't do. More on that when I'm not breaking my own
needs up late here, but I couldn't resist an opener...

...This isn't just about aromatherapy, of course. It is a practical
resources and self care tools lead into an ancient system of medicine
that works amazingly well for 1) prevention! and 2) reversing problems,
when under correct care. Good quality essential oils are an awesome
resource, but how they are used, which and in what context still needs
some mentorship, sometimes like in full blown PPD, more than a little.
My approach with them (LOVE THEM) is to consider them a blessed clean,
non-toxic, safe toolset to help us do the rest of the homework. Am I
repeating myself? Forgive if so.
More to the point, if a woman is on the SSRI meds, the root causes are
increased by the meds while the symptoms often covered up which is why
they seem to work for so many, and create such side effects for way too
many others.
...There are tons of health issues for the next 42 years - not to be
negative, just let's get real - get seeded in the first 42 - 60 days
after birth. They may not reach medical diagnosis for months, but the
gestation of those things begins powerfully to the extent Mommy is also
not CORRECTLY nourished and cared for to support the tons of invisible
work needed at that time. I'd say MOST of the dietary suggestions out
there for correct nutrition postpartum are backwards.
When we are months out, we are not as fragile, and bounce back faster
sometimes. And sometimes have a few months turnaround time to deal with
the deep seeded stuff, like with any other chronic health problem. But
results can be felt right away with the right methodology. Of course,
just with attention of someone who cares, but with depression, we have
our guard up so strong often to avoid any more change even that is often
blocked.
I use the essential oils for amazing non-med immune prevention and turn-arounds,
even taking them in capsules like an antibiotic but without neg. side
effects. Joint health, tummy comforts including Baby, cradle cap,
candida, antivirals, the list is very long for uses, even anti-tumoral,
many of them. We use them with hormonal and emotional imbalances for
front line fast results also, and safe simple self-care resources you
can use as often as you like with the basic
instructions I get with every order from my source.
But The results won't hold with clients who are really toxic, on many of
the meds, heavily fearful (a natural pp imbalance in the PHYSIOLOGY,
best addressed there, gone extreme), etc. So repeat use as needed and is
fine, easy for mom to do, also lifts the spirits by virtue of their
enhancing oxygen levels in the blood, well measured (varies oil by
oil). Such a wonderful resource.
The molecules will sacrifice themselves if needed, instead of primary
(tissue/system/ action) purpose, to instead alkalize, work as
antioxidants, etc. So we have to attend to the big picture and can't
lean on these as the only tool either they DO really feel like magic
bullets, and safely so, in the short term.
They have to be top quality used the way I'm talking about, and are best
from the few companies that sell low temp and pressure distilled oils,
to get all the bio-constituents in Nature's complement as designed.
Plant medicine is amazingly transferrable to the human system. This
quality of oils have between 300 and 800 bioconstituents per plant oil.
If the bottle says 100% pure DON'T BUY it, it only has to have 10%
essential oil and that can be synthetic,
or laced with the petrochem stuff a plant will suck up with other lipid
like structures as it grows to make its own lipid structures (oils
included). Plants actually concentrate these toxins in their lipids, so
organic is also very important. That's why most aromatherapists say
never put an oil on straight, or never take internally - quality is
often so poor. Over 90% of oils sold on the planet are not even grown on
the planet. Do you hear petrochemicals?
Massage is generally a much better call than accupuncture or
chiropractic for general postpartum rejuvenation. BUT it has to be very
warm, gentle, no deep digs (well, a little lean into that lower back,
shoulders, biceps, neck, hips, but really simple and repetitive, and
more like lymphatic is the idea, but with lots of hot sesame oil
(usually) . Rest afterwards to integrate with hot water bottles on tummy
and lower back. Even in Florida summer, my clients loved it.
Literally, our digestive "fires" get blown out with birth. The heat,
dietary recs, massage all support all the needed chemistries to
reconnect and rekindle for this high need time! It takes about 6 weeks
properly cared for, with a normal birth. So about the rest of us...like
with my first it was about 3.5 years before I felt "normal" again. I
think that is common! ANyway, after receiving, or GIVING OURSELVES A
WARM OIL MASSAGE, soak in the hot bath (shower if Doc says not yet) for
a good 20 minutes, to support the body channels opening to usher thru
whatever they are supposed to be carrying. PP is not a time for exercise
in the early weeks, so the massage is an essential
top 3 support.
And making sure bowels are moving is not about bran, raw fiber, etc at
this time. Bran etc sucks moisture. So does flax seed. Avoid it.
At this time favor soups, warm liquids (there are other ways to cool
those hot flashes that work better, like the energetics in certain
foods, herbs, and even from benefit of moving sticky residues thru the
system that warm liquid does better); stewed fruits, soaked dried
fruits, more butter as well as sesame and some olive oil, isn't that
great news? If we do low-fat, we will not only have trouble LOOSING
WEIGHT! we will not have the needed nutrients for hormones, to lube the
many changes inside (it is NOT just about water, girlfriends! ), to
rebuild connective tissues, and yes it does make a difference on milk
quality, no matter what some will tell you. Just a beginning taste here
on whys for some of the recs. you will see at
www.sacredwindow.com/articles.
...It is SO important to get personalized assessment and attention!
That Morritz liver cleanse sounds daunting but really isn't that
difficult, if you can find a colema board to use a couple times after
it. I did it a little over a year ago. Was amazed at the hundreds of
little stones (3 types) that came out! Once we are out of the postpartum
"window" the first 6 weeks to 3 months, we can better handle a much
winder range of protocols, supplements, foods, as well as activities!
